Study Skills Tutor
Division/School Library Students and Learning
Contract type Open Ended
Working pattern Part time
Salary £29,515 to £33,199 pro rata per annum
Closing date for applications 18-Aug-2019
The University of Bristol’s Study Skills team is looking for a Study Skills tutor with a specific background in science, engineering or maths-related skills to help us deliver face to face tutorials, online tutorials (sometimes out of core hours), small group workshops and write online resources.
We are interested in applicants with a background involving applied maths skills (e.g. engineering, physics, chemistry, economics) or maths teaching. The post holder will be encouraged to use their academic background to help customise their approach to supporting students in subjects which rely on maths and problem solving.
Core duties will include delivering skills tutorials and creating or modifying workshops, organising and maintaining booking systems, responding to email enquiries about bookings, organising workshop programmes, attending meetings with academic staff and working with them to create bespoke academic skills learning materials, either as online resources or for face to face teaching. The post holders will also work closely with our team of paid, part-time, Bristol Futures Advocates; student peer roles delivering drop-in sessions and workshops.
This is a dynamic and sociable role requiring good organisational and interpersonal skills. As the service expands this is an ideal time to join the team.
The role is open ended, starting in September 2019.
Interviews will be held in the week of August 26th 2019
For informal discussion of the roles please contact Dr Simon Gamble, Head of Academic Study Skills, email@example.com
We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
