Senior Research Assistant - Engineering and Environment
Northumbria University is one of only 19 universities nationally recognised as an Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research (ACE-CSR) by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and EPSRC. NORTH Lab, a multidisciplinary research group within the university, has particular expertise in human-centred cybersecurity and usable security.
We are looking for a research assistant to work on an exciting short-term project in collaboration with the University of the Third Age (Whitley Bay Group) and the Old Low Light in North Shields. This project seeks to help older adults become knowledgeable others in cybersecurity (or CyberGuardians) so they can help other community members with their security queries. The successful candidate will support research around training the CyberGuardians (including developing the materials based on their preferences and helping deliver the content) and evaluating the process through qualitative methods including workshops and interviews with older adults.
In addition to having previous experience running interviews and/or workshops, applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills and ideally some basic knowledge of cybersecurity. The role will also involve working with our project partners the U3A and the Old Low Light.
The role is advertised as part-time at 18.5 hours per week, but may be flexible depending on your circumstances.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Dr James Nicholson: email@example.com.
