The successful candidate will play a leading role in a new exciting project “EDGE-UCATE Edge for Education: FLAME replication for educational media delivery”, funded by the European Commission.
The aim of the project is to use 5G infrastructure, set up as part of the first ever end-to-end precommercial 5G trial in the world, to incorporate and replicate the FLAME infrastructure for large scale experimentation in media services. Building on top of this replication, the candidate will help establish the feasibility of FLAME by helping develop a rich interactive media application in an aduction setting. Further details about FLAME may be found at https://www.ict-flame.eu/open-calls/2nd-flame-open-call/
A key aspect of the job will be an opportunity to get hands on with our state of the art 5G testbed, and develop novel network functions at the edge of the next generation of 5G networks. This requires working with a fully developed setup including the use of Kubernetes for orchestration, and SDN for directing traffic flows.
The successful candidate will join the CTR group and will be able to contribute and get involved in various departmental hubs, including Security Hub, the Urban Living Hub and the Trusted Autonomous Systems Hub. There will also be opportunities to collaborate with two other projects, being conducted in collaboration with Cisco and Vodafone respectively.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 9 months.
This is a full-time post.
The selection process will include a panel interview.
