Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in English Language Education in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 497283), to commence on December 16, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis.

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in English Language Education or a relevant area, a professional teaching qualification and at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). They should have a strong background in teaching ESL in secondary schools. Experience in teaching ESL in primary schools and good knowledge of education in the local context would be advantages. They should also have experience and expertise in teacher education and/or leadership in teacher professional development, and an understanding of current issues and debates in teaching ESL and teacher education, which could be teacher education in tertiary institutions or leadership in teacher professional development and/or curriculum development within the school or government context.

The appointee will take up substantial teaching responsibilities at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels with an emphasis on the teaching of English language pedagogy in the secondary, and possibly, primary school context. He/She will also be required to undertake school practicum teaching supervision and administrative responsibilities.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. In addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
