Job Summary

IPAC has an opening for an occasional Scientific Research Associate.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for writing software to fit infrared spectra from the James Webb Space Telescope, as part of a team observing infrared luminous galaxies with the NIRSpec and MIRI instruments
  • Produce documentation of the spectral fitting software
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience reducing and analyzing infrared spectra obtained from other space missions, such as with Spitzer or HST
  • Fluent in one or more programming languages, including IDL and Python
  • PhD in Physics, Astronomy, or equivalent
  • 4 or more years of experience working with infrared data
