Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join our award winning Counselling and Psychological Therapies Team within the School of Community Health & Midwifery. This post is available part time for 0.4 WTE.

The successful applicant must be a qualified, experienced and ideally an accredited counsellor or psychotherapist who will assist in the development and delivery of the undergraduate and post graduate provision in the School of Community Health & Midwifery. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the activities of the School and University in teaching, learning, assessment, research and income generation.

A thorough understanding of the counselling and psychotherapy profession and related professions is essential. An excellent knowledge of Psychological Therapies is required, especially, Person Centred Psychodynamic and CBT. You will contribute to a variety of modules at both under and post graduate levels. The successful applicant will have a focus on the Advanced skills in Counselling Graduate Certificate. In addition, the successful applicant will have a keen interest in taking forward developments in the field of counselling and psychological therapies.

Teaching experience (ideally in Higher Education) is essential as is a good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.

The successful applicant will have a flexible & innovative approach to teaching and will be IT literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office and WebCT or equivalent. A relevant Master's degree or PhD is desirable.
