Lead an innovative Epigenetics research program that underpins extensive collaborative research.

To enhance our research excellence, the University of Adelaide is investing in new elite academic talent and a new role of Associate Professor/Professor of Epigenetics has been created to provide academic and research leadership in the field within the Adelaide Medical School and as a Research Leader within the Robinson Research Institute.

Your outstanding research will advance the University’s national and international leadership in the areas of early life origins of disease susceptibility, fetal developmental programming, molecular mechanisms of disease, and/or gene-environment interactions underpinning susceptibility to non-communicable metabolic, neurocognitive, immune and inflammatory conditions.

Your commitment and engagement will promote robust interdisciplinary initiatives and collaborations across the University as well as with our external partners, to enable research outputs to have national and international impact.

Your skillsets will also enable outstanding outputs across academic leadership, innovation and relevant collaborations.

As a leader in your field, you will lead and encourage an environment of creativity and innovation in the School and Institute, and engage with the broader academic and professional community, to promote and enhance the national and international profile of the University to bring us to the forefront of globally relevant epigenetics research.

To be successful you will need:

• Proven evidence of a continuing high level personal commitment to and distinguished achievement in the research area of Epigenetics.
• Substantial experience in writing and securing successful research funding applications to national competitive agencies.
• Evidence of having worked in multidisciplinary environments involving research scientists and educationalists.
• Ability to demonstrate an innovative nature and the ability to influence, carry out and instil change.
• Demonstrated ability to forge meaningful external relationships and represent the Institute, Faculty and the University locally, nationally and internationally, to build partnerships with community, industry and other academic institutions and partners.

Qualifications:

PhD in epigenetics, or a related area of biological or biomedical science, with extensive experience and track record in the field of Epigenetic research.

Applicants to Level E, will have demonstrated ability across the minimum essential criteria and much greater levels of experience and achievement across the above-listed points.
