DATA APPLICATION SUPERVISOR, AGE LAB, Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL), to manage staff and contractors involved in developing and deploying data acquisition equipment, annotation approaches, storage solutions, and data access.  Will collaborate with senior laboratory staff to set technical/strategic direction; help set and manage team goals/priorities; lead large-scale data efforts through various software components of a growing data pipeline; supervise and assist with retrieving data from vehicles, developing new data acquisition systems, and building and maintaining systems; manage secure storage and access for hundreds of terabytes of data while providing data support for researchers/sponsors; leverage existing PostgreSQL database for storing metadata and design new storage schemas; manage, maintain, and leverage existing preprocessing code and synchronization scripts that prepare video and time series data for analysis; develop/integrate third-party annotation approaches; lead development of new installation plans; evaluate and develop new computing resources; implement backup routines; generate documentation; assist with deployment, maintenance, and development of custom data acquisition equipment and data validation; and perform other duties as requested. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in related field; five years’ relevant technical experience, one year of project management and supervisory experience, and three years’ programming experience in a Linux environment using Python and/or C/C++ (may include undergrad experience); experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) and managing large complex data including signals such as video, CAN, and GPS; meticulous attention to detail; strong problem-solving, time-management, communication, and organizational skills; team orientation; experience managing projects/significant aspects of project components; interest in building, maintaining, and implementing strategic plans for data acquisition equipment and data management; and ability to quickly learn new software programs/interfaces and troubleshoot minor technical problems.  Job #17773
