Job description

Working in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace & Automotive Engineering, you will be committed to contributing to our continued success in delivery of engineering programmes. You will join a School with high levels of teaching quality and student satisfaction (ranked in the Guardian University Guide2020 in the country's top three for our courses in Mechanical Engineering).

The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the delivery of topics relating to systematic Engineering Design synonymous with current industrial best-practice. Demonstrating the need for dynamic, flexible and robust design processes, this role will facilitate students' knowledge of a rigorous approach to the design discipline. The design curriculum promote integrated professional practice and in corporates appropriate use of contributing disciplines such as ;Sustainability, Problem Function Analysis and Evaluation (QFD, FMEA, Pugh),Computer Aided Design, Quality Assurance, Life cycle Analysis and DFX, use of BoM in Project Management.

The position is primarily open to candidates who wish to focus on teaching practice, development and management. However,successful candidates will have the opportunity to apply to become an active member of one of the Faculty Research Centres (FRCs).

Ideally, the candidate should be qualified to PhD level in a relevant subject. However,we also encourage candidates with relevant industrial experience to an equivalent level to apply.

Experience of working on applied research projects or contracts, as well as participation in professional practice/consultancy will be advantageous.
