LECTURER, NEW ENGINEERING EDUCATION TRANSFORMATION (NEET), School of Engineering, to act as the spearhead for teaching, developing, implementing, coordinating, and assessing NEET’s Ways of Thinking modules (e.g., critical thinking, ethics education, creative thinking, self-learning, systems thinking, etc.) in the context of its project-centric approach as implemented in each of the NEET cross-departmental “threads”. Will work closely and collegially with thread faculty leads and instructors, module faculty leads, and NEET leadership towards those goals and growing the NEET initiative; teach some modules such as creative thinking, systems thinking, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills and manage the process of developing, coordinating, and implementing them; work with faculty, instructors, students, and others on innovations in pedagogy, curricula, instructional design, and educational assessment; and design and implement assessment of the Ways of Thinking modules and new learning and teaching models.  Will report to the executive director.  

NEET is a pilot program operating in start-up mode with the attendant proactive approach, speed of operation, and responsiveness to feedback, engagement, and focus that successful start-ups require. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  Ph.D. in engineering education or related field; at least two years’ experience in engineering education (i.e., instructional design and development, academic assessment, or educational curriculum development); at least one year of teaching experience (as an instructor or teaching associate) before, during, or after the Ph.D.; specialized knowledge of quantitative and qualitative educational research methodologies; demonstrated experience working effectively and collegially as a self-starter and team member in an academic environment; ability to prioritize and problem solve; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and IT skills.  Experience in higher education highly preferred, including experience successfully engaging with undergraduate students.  Job #17769

Occasional night and weekend work and local or domestic travel may be required.  

This term position ends on August 31, 2020, and may be eligible for renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance and available funding.
