Applications are invited for the post of Part – Time Lecturer in Biology to cover for maternity leave from 1 November 2019 to 31 October 2020 (see below for more information) for the Certificate in Clinical Foundation Studies programme (CCFS) 0.8FTE (28h per week).

The post holder will be expected to work with Head of Certificate in Clinical Foundation Studies Programme, course and module leads to ensure that the teaching of Biology, as indicated by the agreed curriculum, is appropriately developed, delivered and evaluated throughout the CCFS programme. Experience of large and small group teaching within a relevant discipline appropriate to the level of appointment are essential as well as experience in teaching A level Biology to school age children from diverse cultural backgrounds. Experience of course design together with knowledge of information technologies for the support of Biology including e-learning would be advantageous. We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to communicate effectively, professionally and sympathetically with students from a range of ages and backgrounds. Candidates must have the ability to work independently and to show initiative and to prioritise and balance competing demands.  

Salary will be in the range of £46,489 and £51,899.  Benefits include 30 days annual leave and pension scheme

The successful candidate will require a DBS / Police check.

This 12 month, part-time post is available as a result of maternity leave absence and is expected that you will hold it for the full period. However, should the post-holder on maternity leave exercise her right to return to work earlier, then this appointment will end, subject to a notice period of one month.  

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
