Applications are invited for the post of VR Technician for a new VR facility housed in the Department of Psychology. We envisage this developing into a vibrant and creative research facility, producing immersive psychological experiments on a wide range of different topics.
The post holder will provide technical support and operational management for the facility, playing a key role in ensuring that our world-class research makes the best possible use of the latest immersive technologies. The successful candidate will work with staff and students at all levels to design, create and install new immersive psychological experiments, providing technical and programming support and occasional skills training. The post holder will also play a role in shaping the facility as it grows into the future, advising the Department on the latest technological developments.
The post holder will have an established track record in designing, creating and installing immersive experiences, particularly in VR, with the ability to provide hands on support and operational management for the facility. Excellent communication skills are essential, along with the ability to liaise effectively with staff and students at all levels.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
This is a part-time permanent post, available from 2 September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to make a 10-minute presentation to the interview panel, followed by Q&A. The aim of the presentation is to demonstrate your ability to convey technical concepts to a novice audience by describing an innovative immersive experience that you have delivered, and explaining how you achieved this.
Please note that it will not be possible for the College to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for successful candidates as this role does not fall into one of the standard occupational codes deemed eligible for sponsorship by UK Visas and Immigration. Successful candidates will therefore need to be eligible to work in the UK or have limited leave to remain in the UK and associated right to work for the duration of their employment with the College, in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
