Designer for Integration and Reverse Engineering in CERN Accelerator Complex

The EN-ACE group at CERN provides activity coordination for interventions and changes to the whole accelerator complex. This includes layout management, integration, scheduling, work and safety coordination. The group supports all projects for underground activities, projects with major impact on safety coordination, and further installations in the accelerators.
The Integration section (EN-ACE-INT) is responsible for the integration of all components necessary for the operation of a particle accelerator whether it be machine components or services.
The designer will support the integration team and carry out the complete 3D modelling of installed services and diverse accelerator systems for which no previous tridimensional documentation is available. The designer will perform such activities using the CATIA CAO software.
In his daily tasks, the designer will have the possibility to collaborate with CERN survey teams and make use of the tridimensional scans they provide; she/he will also directly work within the CERN accelerating complex, performing assessment activities such as dimensional measurements and photographing of the heterogeneous equipment of interest.
In order to qualify for a place on the programme you will need to meet the following requirements:
- You are a national of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (https://home.cern/about/member-states);
- You have a Technical Diploma in mechanical design or services or equivalent (careers.cern/ttediplomas), and no more than 4 years' relevant experience after finishing your diploma;
- If you are currently studying, you are still eligible to apply, although you are expected to have obtained your qualification by the start of your appointment at CERN;
- If you hold a BSc or MSc, you are not eligible. However you may be eligible for the Fellowship Programme.
You should have at least a working knowledge of English or French.

- An employment contract of one year, renewable for a second year;
- On-the-job and formal training at CERN as well as in-house language courses for English and/or French;
- A take home pay of approximately 3,546 CHF per month (net of tax);

- Depending on your individual circumstances: an installation grant, family, child and infant allowances as well as travel expenses to and from Geneva;
- 2,5 days of paid leave per month.
