Job Summary

The Educational Development Unit (EDU) at Imperial College is seeking to appoint a new Teaching Fellow in Educational Development (or Senior Teaching Fellow dependent on qualifications and experience) who will be based at the South Kensington campus.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of an established team of experienced staff who work collaboratively across College to support and enhance learning, teaching and educational development in an institution with an excellent international reputation that consistently achieves high national and international rankings. The Unit is part of the newly established Centre for Higher Education Research and Scholarship and is currently engaged in supporting the College’s learning and teaching strategy. This dynamic area of work builds on recent institution-wide curriculum review and involves exciting pedagogic innovation and culture change.  As a result this is a challenging educational development role with opportunities for pedagogic research and scholarship.

Duties and Responsibilities:

You will contribute to the delivery of the EDU’s College provision, taking responsibility for a selection of standalone workshops and participating in the development and delivery of the Unit’s academic programmes as appropriate. You will also contribute to other general educational development work in the EDU.

Essential Requirements:

Candidates will be expected to have recent experience of developing the educational practice of staff who teach in a university or similar environment and to be knowledgeable about higher education. Experience of working in STEMMB disciplinary contexts would also be useful. They will ideally have an appropriate educational qualification and will be both confident and able to communicate effectively with a wide range of Imperial staff including academics, senior managerial staff and other College staff involved in supported learning and teaching.

Further Information:

To be appointed at the higher salary scale candidates would be expected to have greater experience and a Master’s level qualification in education so that they can contribute more immediately to planning and development and teaching across the whole spectrum of provision including Master’s level.

Informal enquiries are welcomes and should be directed to Professor Martyn Kingsbury (m.kingsbury@imperial.ac.uk)

Interview date: Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd August 2019 (this is a two stage interview process – you may be required to attend on two consecutive two days)
