As part of the Division of Tropical Environments and Societies (DTES), the College of Business, Law and Governance was formed in 2014 to provide new opportunities and collaborations for both teaching and research. The College builds capacity across northern Australia and the tropical world by promoting, fostering, supporting and administering quality teaching and research in three critical domains: Law, Business and Conflict Management & Resolution. The College is an esteemed member of local communities and a valuable partner to local industries, community groups and all levels of government.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor DTES, the Dean will be:

  • an inspiring leader with a demonstrable track record of delivering results
  • an ‘Intrapreneur’ able to strategically identify opportunities for Business, Law and Governance for the present and future aspirations of JCU’s region
  • able to lead and manage transformational change through people-centred leadership and collaboration
  • responsible for continuing the digital strategy and a strong advocate for online education
  • a proactive champion of the Tropics and JCU’s mission in the region
