Job Details
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the area of electrical engineering, power electronics and control.
The successful candidate will conduct research in the area of electrical microgrids. The research will develop local controllers and algorithms for power and energy management to achieve efficient and stable operation of a microgrid with high penetration by PV, electric vehicles and storage devices. The controllers will be tested by using two demonstration microgrids that will be developed, one at Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK and another at another at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India.
This position is funded by a research project grant from the British Council and involves collaboration with, and travel to, NIT Rourkela. You will work primarily with Professor Ghanim Putrus and his research team. The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of electrical power engineering, power electronics and relevant control aspects. Experience in renewable energy, electric vehicle technologies and their interaction with the grid would be beneficial. Applicants must hold a good first degree and PhD degree, or close to completion, in electrical power and control engineering or a relevant discipline.
