At Cranfield University we can offer you the opportunity and resources to really develop your career. Cranfield is an exclusively postgraduate university that is a global leader for transformational research in technology and management.
The School of Water, Energy and Environment excels in delivering Cranfield’s Mission within three themes, including Energy and Power. The School is committed to leading in its areas of expertise through investing in world class staff and facilities over the long term.
An opportunity has arisen for a materials scientist/chemical engineer to work on an EPSRC project on materials lifing in innovative supercritical CO2 conditions for novel power generation cycles.
You will develop and operate a novel testing rig, researching into materials degradation mechanisms in supercritical CO2 rich environments. This knowledge is vital to the development of new, highly efficient power generation cycles and will be presented in peer reviewed journals and at conferences.
You will have a PhD (obtained or near completion) in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a related discipline. You will have experience of analysing degradation in metallic or ceramic materials, be competent with the application and interpretation of analytical techniques, and with safely operating complex laboratory test facilities. Your previous project management will be invaluable as will your ability to work in a team with our technicians and other researchers as well as independently pursuing your research deliverables.
For an informal discussion, please contact Dr Joy Sumner, Senior Lecturer in Energy Materials on +44 (0)1234 750111 Ext. 2815 or by email at email@example.com
