FACULTY OF LAW, HUMANITIES AND THE ARTS

  • Fixed term, full-time appointments (January 2020 to December 2027)
  • 2 positions available

The School of Liberal Arts invite applications for two Lecturers for which the principle duties are to deliver specific subjects within our Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation degree. These positions will be offered for an 8-year fixed-term period

Applicants should have strong Liberal Arts or Humanities credentials with a relevant background in Philosophy, possibly coupled with Literature and/or Classics and/or Religious Studies, as required to fulfil specific teaching needs. Appointees will have a demonstrated track record in, or potential for, producing influential, high quality publications which feature in an active, forward-looking, impactful program of research.

The University of Wollongong (UOW) is in the top 2% of universities worldwide and was the highest ranked university in NSW by the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) in 2016.

Joining UOW’s School of Liberal Arts presents attractive terms and an exciting opportunity for outstanding people to contribute to the creation of a high-quality degree program while becoming part of a unique, research-rich academic unit. As foundational appointments to our new School, successful candidates will join an already strong, existing academic team which will be further enhanced by another six academic appointments in coming years.

We encourage applications from qualified candidates who are not only committed to delivering student-centred learning and personalised approaches to teaching but who also aspire to producing world-class research. You will be expected to be able to work independently but also as an excellent team member. You will contribute to undergraduate teaching and curriculum development as well as postgraduate supervision. You will actively participate in the governance activities of the School including community, promotional and professional engagement activities.

In the first instance, candidates will be expected to teach select subjects from our 1st year curriculum:

  • WCIV105 - Classics of the Roman Republic and Empire

Candidates must address the Selection Criteria within the online application.

All positions have an expected start date of 6 January 2020.
