Due to the continued expansion of the Centre for Ocean Energy Research, we are seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher and a Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher for a major Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) project entitled “Development of the next generation of controllers for wave energy devices”. The project has a total team count of 7 dedicated researchers, covering hydrodynamic modelling, system identification and control design. The focus of the current postdoctoral positions is on real-time control of wave-energy converters. To date, the project has developed a range of identification, control, estimation and forcecasting techniques for wave energy systems (see http://www.eeng.nuim.ie/coer/publications/). The current phase of the project now focuses on further refining these techniques and evaluating them in a real-time environment and in wave tank tests, with a variety of wave energy devices.

The project exists within a wider COER group of 16 researchers and have a range of international academic and industrial collaborators, including Prof. Alain Clement (EC Nantes), Prof. Frederic Dias (UCD), Prof. Alessandro Astolfi (Imperial College), Prof. Marta Molinas (NTNU), Corpower Ocean AB (Sweden), CalWave (USA) and the Wave Energy Corporation of America (US).
