Portsmouth Business School is keen to strengthen its already thriving research environment by appointing a research Fellow to extend the work undertaken on the project ‘Buy Online Return in Store’ and on returns in retail more generally. This work brings together researchers from the Accounting and Financial Management and the Operations and Systems Management Subject Groups; the Gate2Plate Research Group and the Centre for Operational Research and Logistics. Experience in research for one or more of costing systems, lean management systems, reverse logistics and/or circular economy is desirable. The candidate should have experience of using qualitative or mixed methods in their research.

The research fellow is expected to work independently and as a team member make original contributions to research projects in retail returns systems and to co-author good quality papers for publication in research journals of international standing. The research fellow will also be expected to identify sources of external funding, to support the writing of bids, help develop new research projects and to liaise and network with funding bodies and other relevant parties as necessary.

You will have a proven record of quality research publications, and experience of collecting quantitative/qualitative data in the field. Experience of writing funding applications and managing research projects in the areas outlined above is desirable. We are particularly seeking someone with 2-5 years post-doctoral experience in research or in practice, or similar prior relevant experience in industry or commerce.

Informal enquiries may be made to Lisa Jack, Professor of Accounting at Lisa.Jack@port.ac.uk
