The Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre (AITC) at the Australian National University (ANU) is the only facility in Australia that enables end-to-end engineering from initial design to the launch pad. AITC's scientific program requires a high-level technical engineering team to develop innovative state-of-the-art instrumentation for observing the distant Universe.

Position overview

The AITC is seeking an experienced Adaptive Optics (AO) Real-Time Software Engineer to play a major role in the development of real-time computing hub at the AITC. Together with the Instrument Scientist and other SW engineers, the AO Real-Time SW Engineer will support the production of AO real-time computers (RTC) for major observatories and R&D programs among AITC priority research areas in real-time computing for AO.

The AO Real-Time SW Engineer will be expected to bring critical know-how on real-time systems design using cutting edge processors and hardware accelerators at AITC and supports the AO group for the development of a comprehensive SW stack for AO RTC.
