Overview:

We are looking for a highly driven, organised and operationally excellent manager to be a leading part of our Venues & Events Team at QMSU. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to operationally manage 2 of our sites, Drapers Bar & Kitchen and Griff Inn Bar & Kitchen with an annual turnover of £950k.

QMSU Services Limited (the Company) is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the charity known as Queen Mary, University of London Students’ Union (QMSU – the Union). Carrying on business as a commercial company, the services are provided principally for students (and staff) at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), in support of the charitable aims and objectives of the Union to implement its mission to ‘improve students’ lives’ and its strategic plan. This role will provide assistance in the development of licensed trade activity across 3 campuses in Mile End, Whitechapel and Charterhouse Square as well as marketing support for the Union as a whole.

As a multi-site operator with 70 staff, the Venues Manager should have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build, engage and manage relationships with a wide variety of people. They should also have a keen eye for detail and look to thrive in a fast paced environment. They need to be committed to the values of QMSU, being a safe, friendly and student led democratic organisation. Applicants would also need to be able to operationally focused and willing to work a mixture of days and nights, including some weekends.

The post is permanent, full time 35 hours per week. Starting salary will be in the range of £33,615 - £39,483 per annum (pro rata), inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
