Job Summary
Caltech seeks an Assistant Cross Country and Track and Field Coach / Athletic Liaison to the Office of Residential Experience.
This position is in connection with the NCAA coaching enhancement program and will be an integrated position with additional duties in residence life. It is a dynamic time in the Caltech athletic program and this position is fashioned as an entry level position for someone wishing to start a career in coaching and higher education. The position is a temporary position designed to be a two year experience; it has health benefits, professional development benefits and excellent mentorship commitment from senior leaders in our department and Institute.
Assistant Coach, Cross Country and Track and Field
The past five years has seen considerable transformation take place within the cross country/track & field teams at Caltech and the student body as a whole. The teams have nearly doubled in size. The student body has been re-shaped after several years of incoming classes with unprecedented diversity. This presents a unique opportunity for a position to positively impact both the student-athlete experience on a growing intercollegiate program as well as the student body as a whole.
Job Duties
Athletic Liaison to the Office of Residential Experience
The Office of Residential Experience is led by the Assitant Vice President for Student Affairs and Residential Experience. This department is staffed by 5 Residential Life Coordinators and 24 Resident Associates. This team is charged with developing educational, social, and community programming for Caltech’s residents and facilitating communication within and between the different offices within student affairs – all with the goal of providing an inclusive community and a rewarding Caltech experience for students.
The Athletic Liaison to the Office of Residential Experience is a new position that will live within the student community and be responsible for facilitating communication between residential life and the department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (APER). The liaison will also bridge experiences for our student athletes and residents. The Athletic Liaison is responsible for meaningful connections and outreach to Athletic, Physical Education and Recreational Offices in order to bring those offices and their work into the residential environment. On-campus housing will be provided.
