We seek to appoint a technician to support the new Behavioural and Ecological Physiology (BEP) Laboratory, currently under development in the Anthropology Department, due to be completed July 2019. The primary function of the BEP lab will be hormone analyses, employing enzyme immunoassay (EIA) techniques, from both human and non-human primate samples. Other research purposes and techniques may also be used and developed.
The role holder will carry out and support laboratory procedures including the preparation of materials, solutions and equipment, the development and testing of procedures, and the running of EIA assays and other experimental forms as required. They will train and assist researchers to undertake laboratory procedures such as EIA. They will be responsible for purchasing and maintaining lab stocks as required and equipment servicing. The role requires experience and knowledge of relevant physiological experiments and equipment, an understanding of laboratory and equipment maintenance, and a sound understanding of Health and Safety regulations and their implementation and knowledge of the boundaries of a safe working environment. The technician should be familiar with HTA requirements.
