Sport St Mary’s coordinates an extensive range of facilities and programmes at one of the UK’s premier sports institutions. Our core work involves supporting 14 degree programmes and more than 30 student sports clubs and along with this, Sport St Mary’s is committed to developing participation at every level through several flourishing programmes.

SIMMSport offers weekly coaching and holiday camps to 5-16 year olds. SIMMSactive provides a broad programme of recreational opportunities for students and staff. The world-renowned Endurance Performance and Coaching Centre (EPACC) supports the development of elite runners.

In addition, the wide range of local clubs regularly using the facilities provides a valuable community link that enhances sporting life at St Mary’s. The world-class facilities on the main campus and at Teddington Lock have functioned as Olympic pre-Games training camps and as a team base during the Rugby World Cup 2015.

We are looking for an Assistant Head – Sport Operations and Business to join our team to lead and manage first-class delivery of integrated sports facilities and sport and health services for a wide range of users including students, academic programmes, local community and international squads. You will initiate and develop business plans across the Department’s activities to significantly increase income by enhancing existing income and developing new income streams.

Successful applicants will have at least five years’ experience of successfully leading the delivery of integrated sports facilities and services. You will have experience of working as part of a Senior Management Team and contributing to strategic discussions and leading on formulation of relevant policies and service level agreements. It is essential you have experience of leading operational teams to deliver a first-class service, and that you have managed significant budgets and can lead on business planning and development. You will be a good leader with the ability to motivate and coordinate staff, and be commercially focused with good negotiating skills, plus be able to multi-task to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
