College of Medicine and Health Sciences: The College of Medicine and Health Sciences (CMHS) of the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is the first and highest ranked medical school in the United Arab Emirates. It was opened in 1984 by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Chancellor of the University and graduated its first students in 1993. CMHS is internationally recognized and has a global ranking. It is accredited by the General Medical Council. It is listed and accepted by the World Health Organization and the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates and is recognized by American and Canadian Universities and Health Institutions. CMHS mission is to educate and train medical graduates and postgraduates of internationally recognized quality, specifically attuned to the needs and aspirations of the UAE and its culture through excellence in teaching, research and service. English is the language of instruction. CMHS campus is located in Al Ain city. It is known as the Garden City because of its greenery, located inland in the eastern province of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi adjacent to the Oman border. It offers a wealth of leisure and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. It is approximately 130 km from both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the two main UAE cities. The UAE is an open and tolerant society and a most attractive place to live and work. Research is a key part of the UAEU mission and CMHS researchers contribute significantly to the research output of the UAEU. CMHS has a graduate program in various fields including physiology, pathology and immunology. Department of Pathology and the position: The Department of Pathology, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, UAE University, seeks a full time faculty member with board certification in Anatomical Pathology or Anatomical/Clinical Pathology. Fellowship training is favored especially in hematopathology. The candidate should have a strong interest in research, maintaining scholarly activities and participating in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. A track record of publications demonstrating clinical and scientific accomplishments is mandatory. The academic rank, tenure and salary will be based upon level of qualifications, experience and scholarly accomplishments. The successful candidate will engage in teaching pathology to undergraduate preclinical medical students, PhD candidates enrolled in the College, and medical residents preparing for postgraduate certification in various medical disciplines. There will be a requirement to take part in clinical service at CMHS affiliated hospitals. Histopathology service responsibilities include grossing and reporting surgical and cytological specimens, participation at intradepartmental consultation meetings and hospital tumor boards.

Minimum Qualification

Candidates for this position must hold an MD or MBBS and demonstrate evidence of advanced training in Pathology with certification/fellowship (or equivalent), from accredited centers in North America, Australia or Europe. Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience is also required.

Preferred Qualification

Formal training in education and research will be beneficial to the applicant.
