The University of Bristol’s Catering Department has embarked on an exciting time of change. We are seeking commercially minded, industry professionals to join the management team to help deliver our new objectives.  Using the experience and knowledge gained managing a complex multi-site operation, the successful candidate will possess excellent people management and interpersonal skills, excellent commercial knowledge and be able to grow sales and bottom line while keeping the standards and quality high. 

The Catering General Manager will hold responsibility for the successful operations within budget, of all catering services and will assist in the implementation of the department’s strategic direction in relation to delivering a variety of customer facing catering services throughout the University’s complex multi-site campus.

The Catering General Manager will manage the provision of in Hub Catering operations serviced by in-house catering teams, 3rd party catering contracts and franchises. This will include contract negotiations with the student union and external catering companies. The key focus will be in developing professional relationships, setting key performance indicators, monitoring contract compliance. The post holder will also work with 3rd party contractors, our partners and stakeholders to develop a variety of innovative and sustainable food offers that meet the needs of the University’s diversity community while also upholding the brand standards and delivering departmental objectives.

The catering areas covered by the role include: retail catering, corporate hospitality, conference, events and banqueting, bar management, event management, vending, contract management, duty management and event duty of care.
