The Monash Data Futures Institute
The Monash Data Futures Institute is a University-wide institute bringing together multi-disciplinary capability across artificial intelligence and data science. With the aim of applying AI for social good, and as a part of the Universities key strategic research plan, this newly established centre will bring together researchers across each of our 10 faculties and our various platforms, with a focus of positively impacting on societal, governmental and policy change.
The Director, Monash Data Futures Institute will be charged with enabling the Institute and University to realise this vision. Working closely with the Steering Group, Advisory Board and Senior Management team within Monash, you will take the lead role in building and developing this virtual institute, involving scholars from each faculty, and driving the aims of nurturing and coordinating AI and Data Science capability internally and externally, increasing Monash’s research profile within academia and industry, coordinating bids for large research grants, demonstrating the transformative nature of AI and Data science, and ultimately facilitating it’s adoption by our industry and government partners.
This is an opportunity to set and lead the strategic direction of the institute, spearheading internal, national and international collaborations, and building an effective team with a strong sense of common purpose in support of these aims.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

A competitive executive-level remuneration package, including employer superannuation contribution of 17%, relocation travel, removal allowance and salary packaging, will be offered to the successful candidate.
