Are you a registered midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council with a passion for your profession? Do you want to be involved in teaching under and post graduate students? Do you want to develop your research portfolio?

We offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic midwife to contribute to the provision of high quality learning, teaching and research within the Faculty of Education, Health and Community. As well as participating in the widening portfolio of midwifery education programmes your role will encompass participation in the research activities of the faculty. Part of your role will be to maintain and establish collaborative relationships with NHS and other health care service providers and actively support both students and practice-based staff within the clinical arena.

You will be committed to teamwork with excellent communication skills, you must have a good honours degree, a higher degree, and ideally a doctorate and be a practising midwife registered on the appropriate part of the NMC professional register. You will have significant experience within midwifery including experience of teaching pre-registration students. Personal development of staff is of key importance and support for an individual development programme will be offered. In addition, we are particularly interested in applications from practitioners with experience of advanced clinical practice in midwifery/HDU midwifery.

Appointment to the higher grade will be dependent on significant experience in curriculum design and delivery, as well as a doctorate or demonstrable equivalence in professional experience and status.

LJMU is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and communities irrespective of age, transgender status, disability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity and religion or belief. All our appointments are made on merit.

Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Valerie Fleming, email V.Fleming@ljmu.ac.uk.

Please note all of our vacancies will be closed to applications at midnight on the advertised closing date, unless otherwise stated.

With over 4,000 students and 250 staff, the Faculty specialises in Astrophysics, Maritime and Mechanical Engineering; Electronics and Electrical Engineering; Built Environment; Civil Engineering; Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. We have one overarching Engineering and Technology Research Institute and we are the coordinating Faculty for three cross-university groups: Open Labs, the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Lairdside, which provide the platforms for inter-disciplinary partnerships on a range of emerging initiatives and funding opportunities.

The Faculty is poised to make a real step-change in the way that academia
works with business, we have entered into a new partnership with the maritime industry to create a unique global knowledge hub to bridge the shortage of skills in the engineering and maritime sector.
