The E-Learning Unit (ELU) is seeking to recruit a Senior Learning Technologist (Enhancing Practice) to join the team.

Situated within Academic Development, the E-Learning Unit provides strategic direction for technology-enhanced learning at Queen Mary University of London and works to promote, support and develop the use of digital learning technologies across the institution.  We are responsible for institution-wide applications such as the online learning environment QMplus (based on Moodle and Mahara), Q-Review lecture capture (based on Echo360), Turnitin for plagiarism detection, and Kaltura for media streaming.

In 2019, Queen Mary launched its ambitious Strategy 2030, which includes a commitment to deliver cutting edge curricula and promote new pedagogical approaches to enhance the student experience.  The work of the E-Learning Unit will be crucial to delivering elements of the strategy and the purpose of this post is to lead on the enhancement of teaching, learning and assessment through the use of digital technologies.  The post-holder will be responsible for running a programme of initiatives to promote good practice, from small master class events and limited pilots, to institution-wide change projects. Underpinning success in this role is the need to provide supportive and motivational leadership for a team of e-learning professionals (currently 4.6 FTE).

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate honours degree or equivalent and, ideally, a professional or postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. e-learning or teaching and learning).  We are looking for someone with the ability to communicate with stakeholders in a confident and inspiring manner, as well as the ability to encourage creative thinking amongst their colleagues. You will have highly developed knowledge of e-learning tools and services in higher education, as well as excellent organisation and time management skills.

The post is a full-time and permanent.  Starting salary will be in the range £46,489 - £51,899 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and access to an interest free season ticket loan scheme.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
