The DBA team within the Directorate of Digital & Information Services requires a Database Administrator to support Oracle, SQL Server and MySQL systems and maintain, secure and troubleshoot University applications, services and servers. This post provides an opportunity for a skilled Database Administrator with experience of Oracle and SQL Server technologies to join a progressive team committed to delivering quality solutions for the University. 

The Database Administrator will be a member of a team of DBAs, working closely with other teams including DBAs, developers and colleagues throughout the Directorate of Digital & Information Services. The role will involve working with a wide range of database and application server technologies.  The successful candidate may undertake analysis of requirements and the subsequent design and development of new application and database architectures; perform upgrades to existing systems; undertake performance monitoring and tuning; provide customer, application and developer support.  The current portfolio of applications includes both commercial and in-house developed systems. 

The post holder should be educated to degree-level or have other equivalent qualifications. Candidates should be able to demonstrate skills which include experience of a wide range of Oracle relational database technology (application server & database), Microsoft SQL Server, PL/SQL programming and experience in project management methodology.  Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM is also desirable as is an understanding of cyber security.  These technical skills will need to be effectively combined with an ability to communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical staff and to be able to clearly document requirements and technical specifications.  The successful candidate will be able to manage a portfolio of work assignments effectively to meet project deadlines.   

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 7 scale (£40,792 - £48,676 per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience.
