Working in the Centre for Low-Carbon Propulsion Systems (C-ALPS), you will be committed to contributing to our continued success in delivery of engineering programmes.You will join a newly set-up research centre with high levels of industry engagement.  
 
We are seeking a full time Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work across a diverse range of projects that may include battery, super capacitor and hybrid (LiC and NaC)technologies. This may typically involve elements of materials synthesis and characterisation, electrode manufacture and development, cell making (from coin cell through to prototype device) and electrochemical testing. 
 
You should have or be near obtaining a PhD in Chemistry, Materials, Physics or Engineering with a background in electrochemistry and materials and at least one of battery, super capacitor or hybrid energy storage technologies.  Experience in moving from coin cell to prototype l devices would be advantageous but not essential. You will have excellent communication skills, experience of contributing to publications and the ability to manage and drive your own research. 
 
The successful candidate will actively engage in research and income generation and will be able to contribute to the delivery of research and teaching programmes. You will assist in the training of Masters and PhD students and will need to share our passion for delivering a positive student experience that puts excellence in teaching and learning at the heart of everything we do and will be able to demonstrate significant knowledge in your area of specialisation to support the centre's research culture.  You must be willing to work flexibly and promote and support international partnerships, as well as potentially deliver teaching onsite at one of our international partners.
 
The successful candidate will become an active member of the Centre for Low-Carbon Propulsion Systems (C-ALPS).  As such you will actively contribute to research groups or communities of practice internally and externally, assisting with bids and tenders for external projects or contracts. You will also disseminate research outputs and develop external networks nationally and internationally.
