Applications are invited for appointment as Part-time Lecturer (holding the title of Curriculum Development Officer) in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 497093), to commence on September 1, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter until August 31, 2020, with the possibility of renewal.
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in Mathematics, Mathematics Education or a related discipline; a professional teaching qualification; and at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in teaching mathematics, preferably at primary level. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese and knowledge of educational research. Experience in developing school-based curriculum and/or teaching mathematics for non-Chinese speaking students will be an advantage.
The appointee will work for a Quality Education Fund (QEF) project on supporting the learning and teaching of mathematics for non-Chinese speaking students in primary schools. He/She will provide support to the professional development of mathematics teachers at the project schools, and play a crucial role in leading collaborative lesson planning at different project schools by attending the collaborative lesson planning meetings and observing the lessons which are crucial to the development of the mathematical understanding of the chosen curriculum units/topics. He/She will also monitor the school-based curriculum development process, including the design of curriculum materials and the evaluation of the implementation. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
