Faculty / Directorate
The School combines three discipline areas in the faculty, Art, Design and Architecture. The School of Art was established 149 years ago and has many notable alumni and is now located in the new Vijay Patel Building offering sector leading studio spaces and workshops.

The design disciplines including a broad range of UG and PGT programmes. This includes the Design Unit which has a 25 year track record of applied research working with industries across the UK.

Finally, architecture was first taught at DMU in 1897 and has an internationally renowned reputation including significant recent success in winning a number of RIBA Presidents medals.

The School includes two research institutes, the Institute of Art and Design and the Institute of Architecture. This new school provides a significant opportunity to develop a sector leading portfolio of research and teaching.

Role
As the Head of School of Art, Design and Architecture, you will have the opportunity to develop a vision and strategy in support of the full range of teaching, research and commercial activities within the school as well as contributing to driving the faculty forward.

Your academic background will be in one of the disciplines represented within the School, yet you will have the interest and empathy to be credible across all disciplines.

Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, you may be eligible for professorial status.

Job facts and figures

You will be responsible for the leadership of the new School of around 60FTE academic staff and 1500 student numbers. You will have direct line management responsibility for the senior management team in the school and will report to the PVC Dean.
