Fashion and Textiles at De Montfort University has a long heritage with some boutique courses of study over 60 years old and some unique to the region’s industries, the school therefore has established links to industry and alumni who have global reach. With a strong focus on design, making and manufacturing for the Fashion Industry supported by state of the art facilities in the new Vijay Patel building, the school have had exceptional student satisfaction rates across the portfolio. In addition, to covering a full range of fashion, textiles, fashion buying and communication courses the school contains some highly specialised programmes of study such as Footwear and Contour Fashion.

Role
As the Head of School of Fashion and Textiles you have the opportunity to develop a vision and strategy in support of the full range of teaching, research and commercial activities within the school as well as contributing to driving the faculty forward.

Does your ambition match ours? With a strong track record in academic leadership, you will have a keen appreciation of the current trends within the sector and the managerial wherewithal to span the exciting range of duties that this role entails.

Your academic background will be in one of the disciplines represented within the School, yet you will have the interest and empathy to be credible across all disciplines.

Depending on your qualifications, skills and experience, you may be eligible for professorial status.

Job facts and figures 
You will be responsible for the leadership of the new School of around 40 academic staff and 1050 and students. You will have direct line management responsibility for the senior management team in the school and will report to the PVC Dean.
