AIIM RESEARCH FACILITY

PhD Opportunity (with stipend), photo-electrochemical solar energy, Australian Institute for Innovative Materials (AIIM)

The opportunity

The Australian Institute for Innovative Materials(AIIM) is the flagship research institute at the University of Wollongong with a focus on multidisciplinary materials science fundamental and applied research. The Australian Research Council has awarded a Discovery Project to determine the effect of molecular shape and size on electron transfer rates between surface immobilised electron acceptors and redox mediator donors dissolved in an electrolyte. The outcomes will inform design principles for high efficiency photo-electrochemical solar energy conversion systems. The ARC Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science will host this research within the AIIM. We are seeking a PhD student to join this research project. The PhD candidate will be supervised by A/Prof Attila Mozer, see profile @ https://scholars.uow.edu.au/display/attila_mozer.

The research will be undertaken, on a full time basis, at the AIIM facility at the Innovation Campus in Wollongong, New South Wales. https://aiim.uow.edu.au/index.html

The 2019 Research Training Program (RTP) living allowance stipend is AUD $27,596 per annum (indexed annually), tax free for three years and is offered as part of this PhD opportunity.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold relevant Master / honours level qualifications in relevant discipline (chemistry, physics, materials science). Experience in laser spectroscopy and electron transfer theories will be highly regarded. It is essential that PhD Scholarship applicants can work collaboratively in a multi discipline team.
