HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATOR, Brain and Cognitive Sciences (BCS), to provide human resources (HR) consulting, advising, strategic planning, and administrative services in the areas of employment, employee relations, compensation, labor relations, and benefits.  Responsibilities include advising/assisting faculty, staff, and students on issues related to HR, academic, and policy interpretation/administration; coordinating faculty recruitment efforts; recruiting, selecting, retaining, and developing staff; coordinating annual and special salary reviews and promotions; advising foreign nationals on visa process, obtaining work authorization through the International Scholars Office, monitoring their status, and renewing visas as necessary; assisting incoming faculty/staff with relocation and orientation to MIT and BCS; handling all aspects of annual tenure and promotion cases for faculty; coordinating and processing support staff and student payrolls and handling faculty and research staff summer session payments; facilitating salary review processes; preparing a variety of reports/forms; monitoring and ensuring salary distributions are charged to the correct accounts; acting as affirmative action/equal opportunity officer; mediating conflicts and providing guidance on the interpretation of MIT policies and procedures in the investigation of complaints; maintaining personnel files, databases, and directory information; assisting with support staff/student supervision; and performing other duties as assigned. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in HR or business management; at least two years’ experience, preferably in HR; self-motivation; ability to multitask and perform hands-on work in a team-based work group; listening, communication, facilitation, and mediation skills; ability to resolve problems in an expeditious and independent manner; understanding of federal and state laws/regulations; and strong computer skills, including experience using MS Word, Excel, and FileMaker Pro (or equivalents). Familiarity with MIT policies and procedures and PHR/SPHR certification preferred.  Job #17669-6
