Surrey Business School (SBS): SBS is an internationally recognised centre for management research and teaching. The school’s particular strengths are in digital innovation and technological transformation, international trade and investment, leadership and organizational psychology, sustainability and corporate governance. Based in Guildford just outside of London, the University of Surrey is an outstanding international University with an enterprising spirit.

SBS runs a full range of programmes including undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA programmes, as well as a PhD programme. SBS is becoming increasingly active in executive education (both open-enrolment and tailor-made programmes). Through our Business Insights Lab, the school works closely with companies and other stakeholders. SBS has strong links with many technology-oriented start-ups and established firms in London, and the South-East of England in general. For further information, please visit the SBS website.

The Department of Marketing and Retail Management (M&R): Our Department has core research strengths in retail marketing and distribution management, service marketing and management as well as consumer and shopper behaviour. Please visit the M&R websitefor more information and details on our research and teaching foci. To get a feel for the team and our activities please read our most recent M&R magazine.

Our staff publish in leading journals in our fields such as the Journal of Retailing, the Journal of Service Research, the Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and the European Journal of Operational Research. The Department’s research increasingly considers the links between digital and physical marketing channels, and we are looking to expand this emphasis. Our team manages a wide range of marketing, retail and management related programmes, e.g. BSc in Business Management (Pathway Marketing), BSc Business and Retail Management, MSc Strategic Marketing, MSc International Marketing, MSc Digital Marketing and Channel Management. M&R is led by Professor Christoph Teller and includes a healthy mix of research active faculty and practitioner teaching fellows, the latter bringing a wealth of business experience.

The Teaching Fellow Role:

We seek to appoint a Teaching Fellow B in Marketing and Retail management to join our team. The successful applicant will demonstrate clear evidence of their capability to teach marketing, retailing and related areas across the curricula of UG and PG programmes. They will be expected to play an active role in leading and developing taught programmes, characterised by contemporary academic and commercial content that utilises thoughtful pedagogic approaches to learning and wider student experience. The post holder will participate both to research and teaching related activities in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management. Being physically present on campus through much of the working week will clearly be a key requirement of the post.

We will ensure that the teaching load is such that the post holder will have opportunities to develop their career –for example, through completion of Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in HE, pedagogical research, external business engagement or involvement in associations or professional bodies.

This is a full-time position. Conditions and compensation will be at internationally competitive standards and commensurate with the appointees’ experience.
