Qualifications; Experience and Attributes

Qualification:

Master’s degree in a relevant discipline in higher educational management or law or psychology with minimum fifteen years related experience in university and student affairs, preferably with university or college teaching experience

Experience, Attributes and Indicative Responsibilities

Understanding of University systems and governance procedures and practices

Knowledge and successful experience working with college/university students and faculty in an academically rigorous and multi-cultural environment including with a clear understanding of the issues of diversity and inclusion in both student, faculty and workplace settings required.

Develop and evaluate all processes and regulations to ensure that they are fair and equitable and free from any forms of bias.  Engage in systematic planning and assessment of the office’s functions as well as disposition of matters. Track trends, generate and analyze reports and statistics and conduct comparative research.

Excellent advising and conflict management skills. Excellent and mature judgment.

Excellent organizational abilities and an ability to utilize information technology tools to leverage outcomes.

Flexibility to evolve with a dynamic campus environment and willingness to spend occasional evenings and weekends according to work requirements. Be consistently available and be able to respond to urgent questions and concerns related to on-campus issues.

Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff and faculty coming from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.

An understanding of assessment and survey techniques used within a student conduct, welfare and grievance programs preferred.

Maintenance of the strictest levels of confidentiality and adherence to the highest ethical standards.

Maintain, update, revise the Student Code of Conduct and other relevant University Regulations and educate the University community about these standards. Explore and propose changes to regulations and disciplinary process which focus on education and personal development, health, mental wellbeing, innovation, making recommendations and implementing new practices and processes, as appropriate. Develop and implement programming and educational initiatives regarding prevention and the fostering of a sense of community. 

Develop, maintain and update Regulations and Standards on Avoidance of Discrimination.

Develop and implement outreach to faculty, students and staff concerning social and academic integrity issues and regulations.

Develop, implement and monitor processes to work with student groups and organizations around regulations and compliance issues.

Interpret, implement and ensure compliance with university, academic and administrative policies. Recommend new internal policies, guidelines and procedures.

Examine and propose alternative means of educating students about regulations and academic integrity. Develop and present seminars for members of the university community regarding student experiences, social and academic integrity.

Any other tasks as assigned.

The position will report to the Chief Proctor of the O.P. Jindal Global University.
