The European University Association (EUA) is the independent voice of more than 800 universities and national rectors’ conferences in 48 countries across Europe. With over 20 million learners, researchers and teachers, our member institutions are diverse in size, age and mission, yet share a common mission to create knowledge, shape the next generation of world citizens and foster innovative regional communities.
EUA plays a crucial role in influencing EU and national policies on higher education and research, provides members with a forum for dialogue and promotes best practices through project collaborations, conferences, publications and other activities.
The EUA Board seeks to appoint a new Secretary General to succeed Lesley Wilson, who will step down later this year, having served since the foundation of the Association. Reporting to EUA’s President and Board, the Secretary General will co-develop and implement a new strategic plan with a focus on delivering greater impact for universities; deeper working relationships and partnerships; as well as membership growth.
An adroit, engaging and compelling advocate for higher education, the Secretary General will work closely with the leadership of national rectors’ conferences to advance areas of common interest. With the gravitas, influence and credibility to be an ambassador for all members, presenting a collective vision of strong universities in Europe, the Secretary General will lead a team of 40 staff across offices in Brussels and Geneva, overseeing a €5 million operating budget.
If this vision captures you, and you have the experience, drive and commitment to lead EUA in achieving it, we would be delighted to hear from you.
