The Bristol Medical School offers an annual programme of approximately 35-40 short courses each year, attracting delegates from around the world from specialist fields including epidemiology, bioinformatics, qualitative research, and public health. The Short Course Programme has earned an excellent reputation for offering high-quality, high-impact, good-value courses delivered by tutors who are respected as experts in their fields.
You will join the Short Course team at an exciting time, when the School is expanding and preparing to offer an increasingly diverse range of courses. You will provide administrative and customer support, as well as assisting with the arrangements for catering; booking catering, setting up and clearing away course refreshments and resources. The role will include a shared responsibility for the final phase of testing and setting up of a new database and booking system for the Short Course Programme. There will also be opportunities to contribute to advertising, communication and publicity strategies throughout the annual cycle of the programme.
You will also provide some support to the MPES Research Group, offering clerical and administrative support to academics, programmes of multi-disciplinary research, research seminars and short courses within the Bristol Medical School.
The Bristol Medical School (University of Bristol) is a leading centre for research and teaching in population health sciences. Research in the School is collaborative and multi-disciplinary, with staff coming from a wide range of academic disciplines and clinical specialties. The 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) confirmed the School’s position as a leading centre for research in population health sciences in the UK and internationally. 50% of our research was rated as 4* (world leading), and 86% as 4* or 3* (world leading or internationally excellent). 100% of our research impact case studies were rated as world-leading, as was 100% of our research environment.
