Position Summary:

The primary purpose of the Lecturer in Nursing is to facilitate Flinders NT allied health and nursing placements to meet the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program parameters.

The role requires the ongoing development, expansion and co-ordination of an inter-professional placement program in a range of NT settings for students undertaking entry to practice studies. The incumbent will play an important role in the professional development and education for health professionals currently working in or intending to work in remote and Indigenous health. The Lecturer in Nursing will be based in the Northern Territory (Darwin or Alice Springs).

The Lecturer in Nursing will, under routine to general supervision, contribute to quality research and evaluation endeavours as well as the planning and delivery of topics within the suite of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in remote and rural health and Indigenous health. This will include the development of teaching materials, delivery of lectures and tutorials and other innovative teaching and learning strategies, examinations and placement education. The incumbent will also contribute to strengthening existing partnerships and exploring new partnerships with external stakeholders that have potential for providing improved teaching, learning and research outcomes for the University.

Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve, or are likely to involve, contact with a child, to hold a valid ‘Working with Children Clearance’ (Ochre Card). This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.
