JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cyprus (UCY), announces one vacancy for a full-time Special Scientist position in the Microwave Photonics Research Laboratory. The ideal candidate will have experience in photonics, RF/microwaves and antennas.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The aim of the post is to develop a vital signs monitoring system using a 60 GHz Doppler radar system in which the mm-wave signals are generated and detected with photonic techniques and distributed over optical fibre. The Special Scientist will report directly to Prof. Iezekiel, the Director of the Microwave Photonics Research Laboratory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop 60 GHz radar modules.
• Develop optical techniques for radar signal generation, distribution and detection. § Fabrication and testing of prototypes
• Close interaction and collaboration with other researchers in the GLADIATOR consortium, including reporting to the project coordinator as appropriate.
• Collaborating and supporting the local team at UCY towards the implementation of research objectives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Bachelors degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
• Relevant practical experience in microwaves, photonics and antennas. 

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:

The period of employment will be 1 year, starting from 1^st August 2019.The employer cost for this full time position (140 hours per month) is €1400 per month (cost of employer). Employee and employer contributions will be deducted from this amount. The position does not include a 13^th Salary bonus.
