Salary: £33,199 - £37,345 pro rata (£19,919.40 - £22,407 per annum)
Hours: Part Time – 0.6 FTE

The BA (Hons) Comic & Concept Art is a new course in the University’s portfolio that commenced in September 2018. This specialist course offers student’s fantastic opportunities to develop their strengths as a comic and concept artist and designer. Students have the opportunity to explore their interests in commercial, independent or freelance practice within a range or creative careers – from concept art for the film and game industries, to commercial comic art and self-published comics.
This is an exciting opportunity for a concept art practitioner wishing to work in higher education. You will initially teach across level 5, but in subsequent years also contribute to the delivery of level 4 and 6. The main focus of the role will be to support Module Leaders in the delivery of practice-based modules helping to develop 3D workflows for concept design. In addition, you will be required to provide studio support to students using a range of digital and traditional approaches to Comic Art and Concept Art.
Ideally, you will need the skills or connections to build links with external employers, events and opportunities for exhibiting student work. Working individually and as a member of a team you will be expected to deliver teaching within a variety of settings including lectures, seminars, studio workshops, peer reviews and individual tutorials. The role will require a commitment of at least 3 days a week across the academic year.
You will be expected to have a specialist understanding of historical and contemporary concept art practice with a focus on environment design and 3D concepting skills. Knowledge of Blender workflows and/or VR sketching are also desirable.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate specialist 3D concept art skills and support critical thinking and reflective practice. You will be expected to engage with the University’s research agenda.
