About the Job

The Molecular Regulation Laboratory has an extensive research program, examining the cellular and molecular biology of disease with a specific interest in cancer biology. As the Research Associate, you will contribute to the planning and execution of research by participating in planning sessions, designing experiments and maintaining records, and drafting reports, abstracts, scientific papers, and documenting research findings.

A key area of interest for the Laboratory is the understanding of the regulation of cellular homeostasis by ubiquitination, and in this role, you will be involved in both the in vivo and in vitro functional analysis of ubiquitin ligases to understand disease pathology.

Skills and Experience

A postgraduate qualification in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry or developmental biology, or a related discipline is essential, as is experience with animal models of disease, ubiquitin ligases and protein ubiquitination, and cellular and molecular biology techniques.  You will also have a comprehensive knowledge of scientific and medical terminology and knowledge of animal ethics guidelines and biosafety requirements and procedures, or experience in the safe handling of potentially biological hazards.

You will also have previous experience in recording, analysing, presenting and disseminating research to stakeholders, including preparing papers for publication and understanding the literature involved.  Your high level organisational skills, coupled with your ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a multi-disciplinary research environment, will ensure your success in the role.
