York St John is an ambitious, modern university at the heart of historic York and there has never been a more exciting time to join us.

Significant investment in our campus and facilities, the development of forward-thinking new partnerships and an enhanced range of contemporary courses have helped make us one of the fastest growing universities in the U.K. over recent years.

Now we are building on that achievement, with a new Strategy for the next decade, emphasising our commitment to widening opportunity through the power of education and contributing our talents to creating a fairer world, and a more prosperous region. We are putting inspirational learning and impactful research at the heart of this strategy, recognising our academic expertise as our greatest asset and investing in enabling this expertise to thrive.

All of this takes place at the heart of beautiful York, recently named by the Sunday Times as the best U.K. city to grow up in because of the quality of education, culture and community spirit that we form part of.

We are looking for a Director of Business Development and Knowledge Exchange who will be responsible for co-creating and implementing the University's ambitious strategy relating to business and knowledge exchange, focused on measurable outcomes and tangible results related to the generation of profit.  The role holder will establish an office for Business Development and Knowledge Exchange which oversees activity including degree apprenticeships and CPD contracts.

As our ideal candidate, you will share our values of fairness, sustainability and inspiring others to succeed.   You will have significant experience in leading a business or business development office and will demonstrate the ability to work with academics and/or researcher and innovators to turn ideas and knowledge into business opportunities and knowledge exchange.

In addition to a competitive salary and the opportunity to work at our beautiful campus in the heart of York, York St John University employees enjoy access to a superb range of benefits including:

  • Generous annual leave entitlement (plus additional leave days during our Christmas closure period)
  • Pension scheme
  • Health cash plan
  • Training and development
  • Discounts on a range of high street brands and local companies, including shops, cinemas and gyms

As a Stonewall Global Diversity Champion and holder of the Social Enterprise Gold Mark for Responsible Business Practice, our strength lies in the supportive, inclusive network that exists within our teams; renowned for our friendly, progressive environment, we will nurture your potential so that you can accomplish your ambitions.

We welcome all applicants and particularly people from minority ethnic backgrounds as they are underrepresented within the University.

As part of our commitment to providing an inclusive working environment, consideration is given to all requests for job share or flexible working arrangements.
