Zeppelin University invites applications for the position of

Chair of International Security

(Full Professor)

within the Department of Political and Social Sciences. The position is to be filled at the earliest possible opportunity.

We are seeking to appoint a scholar that should represent the field of international security studies in its entire scope. Teaching should cover topics of international security, foreign policy as well as peace and conflict studies. Candidates covering the following research foci are particularly encouraged to apply: the emergence of international and domestic conflicts and security threats as well as their handling, for example, in foreign policy or in the context of international institutions.

Zeppelin University striving for internationally visible and sustainable research has established research clusters in explaining decision-making, governance of global cooperation networks, computational social science and transformative production of culture. Cooperation in one or several research clusters is expected.

The successful candidate will have established a track record of excellent internationally oriented research documented, for example, by articles in international peer-reviewed journals, publications with high-quality presses, and a successful track record of third-party funding. In addition, the appointee should be committed to high-quality teaching. He or she will be expected to provide courses in the context of the university’s bachelor, master and doctoral programs. The appointee should have an interest in interdisciplinary research and teaching and should contribute to the acquisition of research grants. He or she will be expected to contribute to university self-government.

As per Article 47 Landeshochschulgesetz (state higher education act) eligible candidates shall have a relevant Master (or equivalent), a PhD and a distinguished record of post-doctoral research and teaching, demonstrated by a successfully completed Habilitation, a Junior-Professorship or equivalent research and teaching achievements.
