SOFTWARE DEVELOPERChemical Engineering, to join the consortium, Machine Learning for Pharmaceutical Discovery and Synthesis (MLPD).  Will be responsible for the continued development and maintenance of a web-based application deploying machine learning models for chemical synthesis planning and property prediction. Responsibilities will include developing a modern, front-end web application to set up parameters for and view the results from machine learning predictions for chemical compounds; developing a back-end infrastructure for asynchronous task submission of long running tasks involving multiple machine learning predictions; developing API standards for machine learning predictions for synthesis planning and property prediction to be used both in and outside of the web application; defining and codifying reproducible and transferable ETL pipelines for training machine learning models on chemical data; packaging the application into containerized microservices for deployment using Kubernetes for both on-premises and cloud-based solutions; developing benchmarking tests to evaluate the performance/efficiency of various machine learning models; serving as a technical expert, helping transfer software to MLPDS member companies, and troubleshooting/debugging issues that arise during transfer; assisting with documentation and manuals to educate users on how to efficiently make use of the web application user interface; and keeping track of MIT-company interactions, software status, and feature requests and identifying MIT follow-up actions to address needs. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  minimum of a bachelor’s degree in physical/chemical science or a related field; experience in the physical/chemical sciences and three years of experience working with scientist/engineers to develop and refine computer codes for application in the physical sciences; and as the ability to code in Python, Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch, and other related machine learning codes.  Job #17656-8
