About the role

  • $107,210 - $126,386 + 17% superannuation
  • 3 year fixed-term position
  • Full-time (35 hours per week)

The Senior Research Associate (Level B academic) will perform research and collaborate with investigators on quantitative risk management.

The role of Senior Research Associate reports to the supervisor and has no direct reports.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  • Designing and performing research tasks in the area of quantitative risk management under the leadership of the supervisor
  • Developing and assessing models, software, databases, computational techniques for the research project
  • Analysing and interpreting data and communicating results
  • Producing timely and high-quality research to be published in top tier disciplinary journals
  • Assisting with preparation of grant applications as appropriate
  • Collaborating with investigators including industry contacts on model development and applications under the research project
  • Presenting to academic and industry conferences, internationally and locally
  • Assisting with supervision of research students and research assistants involved with the project

About the successful applicant;

  • You will hold a PhD in actuarial studies, statistics, operations research, econometrics, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated research interest in the interface of insurance, finance, and risk management
  • Evidence of strong performance in research in a field relevant to quantitative risk management
  • Demonstrated knowledge & experience in probability and statistics
  • High level of competency in computing modelling techniques and data analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills in writing research papers and in presenting research
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
