Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Pathology and the State Key Laboratory of Liver Research (Ref.: 497094), to commence as soon as possible for two to three years, with the possibility of renewal. 

The post is to identify novel molecular and cellular mechanisms of liver cancer. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in biomedical science and demonstrable experience with the following: basic molecular biology techniques in studying protein-protein or protein-nucleic acid interactions; sample preparation and gene expression profiling; tissue culture handling on human tissues, cell lines and viral culture; cell sorting and flow cytometric analysis; and mouse models. Experience with cancer immunology will be an advantage. They should have expertise in molecular and cell biology, with strong interest in translational research utilizing mouse models of liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma) as well as human tissues/cells. Those who appreciate the complexity of biological systems are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants should also be able to work independently and work as a team, participate in highly collaborative projects, and contribute intellectually to the development of the research. They should be fluent in spoken and written English.

The appointee will work under the supervision of Professor Irene Ng in research projects to investigate the molecular and cellular mechanisms of HCC (http://www.hku.hk/patho/staff/list/ing.html).
